Thank you for your interest in working at Red Willow. Below are the job summaries of the summer 2010 position openings and everything else you need to apply. To apply, call to have an application mailed to you or download the New Applicant Packet or the Returning Staff Packet. If possible, print it front and back to save paper. Did you know that if you recruit someone and they stay for the whole summer you get $50? This applies even if you don't work at camp for the summer. Just make sure that you let Allison know who you have been trying to get to apply. Print off a New Applicant Packet for them! It could be the little push they need.

Team Leader

Team Leaders must have some camp experience, and strong leadership skills. They will be responsible for living in intentional community as a role model to counselors; develop leadership skills in & bring out other gifts in staff members; and work as a servant to staff, providing necessary organization, program materials, encouragement, and evaluation. Together, the 2 team leaders will be in charge of making the day run smoothly by planning group activities, worship, campfire, and leading many activities. This position involves a lot of behind-the-scenes work.

  • Preferred age 21 by June 1, 2010.
  • Dates of employment: May 18 - August 6, 2010
  • 1 male and 1 female
  • Salary is $2,700 plus room and board, $50 for lifeguarding

Senior Counselors

Senior Counselors will live with a group of 5-14 campers and maybe a Junior Counselor. You will be their guide and role model for the week on site and work off-site with children in grades 1-5 at VBS. You will lead Bible studies, worship, recreation, crafts, songs, and creative fun. As a senior counselor you will also get the opportunity to assist in planning and leading worship and campfire. You will be responsible for planning and leading a nightly devotional for their cabin.

  • Must be 19 by June 1, 2010 with one year of college or work experience.
  • Dates of employment: May 24 - August 6, 2010.
  • 5 Females and 3 males
  • Salary is $2,100 plus room and board, $50 for lifeguarding

Junior Counselors

The Junior Counselor position is for those who are ready to take their camp experience to a new level. Junior Counselors (JC) will no longer be a camper but a staff member. But be ready for a BIG change. In this role, JCs will be working closely with a senior counselor. JCs will be expected to help in ALL areas of camp, put their campers' needs before their own, and may be asked to lead things like games, crafts, Bible study, and devotionals.

  • Must be 16 by June 1, 2010 and completed their sophomore year of High School.
  • Dates of employment: May 24 - August 6, 2010.
  • 2 males and 2 females
  • Salary is $1,900 plus room and board, $50 for lifeguarding

Media Director

The Media Director is responsible for creating a weekly summary DVD that is sold to campers, taking photos and video of the week's activities, supervising the taking of photos and videos by counseling staff, and organizing PowerPoint projects as worship aid. This person may be asked to assist with designing camper t-shirts and items for the canteen. This position will also require the supervision of campers at some points during the summer. Must have the computer skills necessary to manage the aforementioned duties.

  • Must be 16 by June 1, 2010 and completed their sophomore year of High School.

Aquatics Director

The Aquatics Director (AD) is responsible for the safe operation of the waterfront and swimming pool program and facilities. This person will supervise, provide in-services for and evaluate the lifeguards and will train and schedule lookouts. The AD is responsible for testing and maintaining the pool water. This position will also require the supervision of campers at some points during the summer. Must have Red Cross Lifeguard certification or equivalent.

  • Must be 21 by June 1, 2010.

  • Salary is $2,300 plus room and board

Adventure Leader

The Adventure Leader is responsible for the environmental education programs and the outdoor adventure activities. This would include: OWLS trails, off-site camping and hiking, mountain bikes, archery, overnight camping, cookouts, outdoor safety and Godly stewardship of His creation. Some certifications in these areas are helpful but not mandatory.

  • Must be 21 by June 1, 2010.
